定义

《存在主义是一种人道主义》原是法国当代著名的哲学家、文学家、剧作家和社会活动家萨特在1945年的一篇讲演，讲演的主旨是“要对存在主义所受到的一些指责，提出答辩”，回应的对象主要是法国共产党与基督教。1946年，《存在主义是一种人道主义》单行本出版发行。在该书中，萨特提出了“存在先于本质”等著名观点，被认为是存在主义哲学的重要注解。萨特认为，所谓自由选择只不过是指人在进行选择的时候是自由的、自愿的，至于行动的目的，不是“成为你自己”，而是“成为人类的救世主”，因为萨特始终强调“不仅要对自己负责，还要对所有人负责”（曾虹，2011：25）。作者在书中指出，“由于存在主义重视人的自主决定，因而它是乐观主义的行动哲学，又由于它结合了主观性和超越性，给人以尊严，故是一种人道主义”（冯契，徐孝通，2000：257）。
