定义

广义即审美意识。狭义指审美感受，即主体对美的主观感受、体验、理解、评价和所获得的精神愉悦，是审美中的意识活动和心理状态。一般指狭义。西方美学史有时又称“快感”。美感是人从对象中发现、确证自己的本质力量后激起的肯定性评价和情感愉悦。在人对现实的审美关系中，在审美实践的一系列复杂心理活动的过程和多种心理功能交互作用中实现（金炳华等，2001：978）。所谓审美意识，就是人类的审美感情、意识和能力的总和，包括审美情趣、能力、要求、理想和感受等方面的内容。只有人才具有美的感受能力，人的美感总是依附并通过感官而获取的。在审美上起作用的，主要是听觉和视觉两种。听觉具有空间和时间相统一的特点，在审美上叫做“统觉”，统觉具有强烈的美感能力，不仅可以感受空间美，而且可以感受时间美。人的美感的直觉性是通过感官直接从现实美中获取的。人们在一定的场合下，看到一种秀丽而奇妙的景色，或者听到一首悦耳动听的音乐，往往是不假思索地赞叹、爱慕和欢喜。这些都是美感直觉性的表现。声音、色彩、线条、形体等直接作用于人的感官，不仅可以使人的感官产生相应的官能感受，而且还可以引起人们心理上的共鸣，唤起人们心理上的喜、怒、哀、乐等情绪。人们在审美活动中，不论是美感的形成，还是艺术的构思，都需要通过各种感官的联合作用来完成。美感的主要特征，就是它具有赏心悦目的快感，表现为人的愉悦性。美感必然伴有快感。但是，美感和快感终究是两回事，快感是生理上的舒适和愉快，美感则是精神上的颐养和享受。美感的愉悦性，不等于物质利益上的满足，也不等于道德上的完善。美感还具有情感性。人们的审美活动，动之于情，自始至终都充满着情感色彩，激起人的情感旋律和情感波澜，产生强烈的情感反映。这是美感所固有的意识现象，即情感意识（金炳华，2003：626）。情感体验是美感最基本的特征，它贯穿于美感心理活动的全过程，是美感发生的内在动力。情感体验的强弱是美感强弱程度的标志。
