定义

感伤主义是18世纪后期欧洲资产阶级启蒙运动中出现的文学思潮。又称主情主义。感伤主义发源于英国，后传入法国、俄国和德国等欧洲国家（感伤主义.via：http://baike.baidu.com/item/%E6%84%9F%E4%BC%A4%E4%B8%BB%E4%B9%89）。在理查生（Samuel Richardson，1689—1761）的小说中已出现感伤因素，但感伤主义思潮的正式得名，以英国作家斯泰恩（Laurence Sterne，1713-1768）的小说《感伤旅行》（1768）为标志。斯泰恩主张感情的自然流露，强调个人和社会的不可协调，认为文学的主要任务是描写人的内心世界和变化无常的情绪。法国作家狄德罗的正剧，卢梭的《新爱洛绮斯》也有感伤色彩。德国狂飙运动中的有些作家，如歌德、席勒的早期创造等也带有浓厚的感伤主义色彩。18世纪后半期，俄国也一度出现了感伤主义流派。感伤主义文学对于19世纪浪漫主义的产生和发展有很大影响（朱立元，2014：707）。感伤主义因排斥理性，崇尚感情，也称前浪漫主义。18世纪后期欧洲资产阶级启蒙运动中产生的一种文艺思潮。感伤主义作家夸大感情的作用，细致地描写人物的心情和不幸遭遇，以引起读者的同情和共鸣，表现了对社会现实的不满和劳动人民的怜悯之心（鸿雁，2014：32）。在现代文学研究中，感伤主义主要有两层含义：一是指文学思潮，特指18世纪中后期起源于英国并波及法、德等国的一股文学思潮；二是指一种表现感伤情绪的创作倾向和创作方法（李怡，2013：318）。
