书鼓【英】

Story-telling Drum

定义

书鼓，说书用之鼓，因其鼓身扁圆，亦叫“扁鼓”。鼓腔木框，呈扁圆状，两面蒙皮，置于鼓架上褪击演奏伴上说书。莫高窟第331窟(初唐)北壁上部自鸣乐中有1件书鼓，彩带花纹予以装饰。榆林窟第3窟(西夏)千手千眼观音变的左、右侧各有1件书鼓，排列为对称状，未见有鼓架。

This drum is used in Chinese folk art of story-telling. As it is round and flat, so it is also called “flat drum”. The frame is wood and covered with leather on both sides. The performer will place it on the drum stand and beat it during story-telling. On the up north wall in Cave No.331 (early Tang Dynasty, there is a story-telling drum decorated with colorful bands. There is a story-telling drum on both sides of the Thousand-arm and Thousant-eye Kwan-Yin in Cave No.3 of Yulin Caves. The two drums are arranged symmetrically without drum stands.
