定义

构建社会主义和谐社会，必须坚持正确的指导思想。《决定》提出，我们要构建的社会主义和谐社会，是在中国特色社会主义道路上，中国共产党领导全体人民共同建设、共同享有的和谐社会。必须坚持以马克思列宁主义、毛泽东思想、邓小平理论和“三个代表”重要思想为指导，坚持党的基本路线、基本纲领、基本经验，坚持以科学发展观统领经济社会发展全局，按照民主法治、公平正义、诚信友爱、充满活力、安定有序、人与自然和谐相处的总要求，以解决人民群众最关心、最直接、最现实的利益问题为重点，着力发展社会事业、促进社会公平正义、建设和谐文化、完善社会管理、增强社会创造活力，走共同富裕道路，推动社会建设与经济建设、政治建设、文化建设协调发展（《构建社会主义和谐社会的指导思想》，via: http://www.ce.cn/xwzx/gnsz/szyw/200708/06/t20070806_12444056.shtml）。党的十六届六中全会明确提出了构建社会主义和谐社会的指导思想。在明确构建社会主义和谐社会指导思想的同时，党中央还提出了推进和谐社会建设必须遵循的基本原则，为我们在实践中积极稳妥地推进和谐社会的建设指明了方向。必须坚持以人为本。这是构建社会主义和谐社会的根本出发点和落脚点。必须坚持科学发展。这是构建社会主义和谐社会的工作方针。须坚持改革开放,这是构建社会主义和谐社会的主要动力。必须坚持民主法治。这是构建社会主义和谐社会的重要保证。 必须坚持正确处理改革发展稳定的关系。这是构建社会主义和谐社会的重要条件。必须坚持在党的领导下全社会共同建设。这是构建社会主义和谐社会的领导核心和依靠力量(《构建社会主义和谐社会的指导思想》，via: http://wenda.so.com/q/1370115613068053)。
