Dunhuang Painted Sculptures

敦煌彩塑是敦煌石窟的主体。在人工制作成的木架上束以苇草，草外敷粗泥，再敷细泥，压紧抹光，再施白粉，最后彩绘。

Dunhuang Painted Sculptures: constitute a major part of Dunhuang grottoes. To make such a sculpture, a wooden frame is made by hand and then wrapped with straw and reeds which are then coated with coarse-particle clay. After that, a layer of fine clay is applied onto it and the model is compacted and smoothed before it is coated with plaster and ultimately painted in color.
