多言而类，圣人也。少言而法，君子也。多言无法而流湎然，虽辩，小人也。· He who talks much and whose remarks are identical with Tao is a sage. He who talks less and whose remarks are in accordance with rules and regulations is a gentleman. He who talks much without rules and regulations and whose words are similar to those of a drunk is an inferior man，even though he might be quite eloquent.
