定义

道德风尚是指某种比较稳定的社会道德状况。它是个人和社会的关系在社会道德生活上的表现。道德风尚通常反映出社会中绝大多数人的道德水平，它既包括那些在社会上得到普遍保持的具有道德意义的风俗和风气，又包括那些在社会上普遍习惯的不符合道德要求的风俗和风气。不同的社会，不同的历史时期，不同的阶级和集团，道德风尚的要求也不同。道德风尚代表一定社会或社会中一定阶级、集团、集体本身所固有的、习以为常的行为内容。在存在阶级和阶级斗争的任何社会形态里，社会道德风尚，一般地说，都是由统治阶级利益中引伸出来的道德思想(即社会主体道德思想)，通过统治阶级和它的代表集团的行为，各行各业、各种场所的道德风气，以及各种年龄的人的道德行为所构成（许广明，1981：39）。世界上没有永恒的道德，也不存在永久不变的社会道德风尚，社会主义社会提倡全心全意为人民服务，大公无私，毫不利己，专门利人，要求人们在社会关系中克服资产阶级及一切剥削阶级的旧道德、旧风尚，树立和发展社会主义的新道德和新风尚，提高全社会的道德水平。树立良好的道德风尚，是社会主义精神文明建设的一项重要任务。
