人们能够感知到的道德实际状况的总括。道德事实具有不以具体的个人意志为转移的客观实在性。道德事实是社会事实的核心部分，它不是一般的行事方式、思考方式和感知方式，而是蕴涵着善恶性质的方式。道德事实一定是社会事实，但社会事实不一定是道德事实。只有关乎责任的社会现象才可算是具有道德性的现象，而只有具有道德性的社会现象才可称为道德事实。道德事实包括人性事实和伦理事实两个方面。人性事实是伦理学研究的逻辑起点，其所解决的问题是个体与组织为何需要德性、需要何种类型的德性以及如何具有这些德性等问题。作为学科形态的道德哲学尽管也关注作为现实的道德事实，但多半被整合到其伦理范型中，其学术旨趣在于道德哲学体系。作为学科形态的道德哲学所赖以出发的逻辑起点乃是一种一般的、普遍的因而可称之为理论的道德事实（晏辉，2013：22-25）。由于道德事实的具体和形象性，其问问被引用教育过程中，苏格拉底的产婆术、孔子的扣竭法、当代美国柯尔伯格的道德两难法、拉思斯的价值澄清教育等，都是实施道德事实教育非常有效的方法。
