定义

社会帝国主义常用于批判第二国际机会主义者支持帝国主义侵略扩张政策时释义。伯恩施坦和考茨基等人及其派别在第一次帝国主义大战期间，公开为帝国主义掠夺和奴役别国人民的反动政策和行为辩护，提出“保卫祖国”的口号，并在国会投票赞成资产阶级政府军事拨款的要求，欺骗各国无产者为资产阶级的利益互相残杀（金炳华，冯契，2001：1245）。1915年，列宁在《第二国际的破产》一文中使用了社会帝国主义这一概念。指出社会帝国主义是“指口头上的社会主义实际上的帝国主义，即机会主义转变为帝国主义”（列宁，1984：90）。随后，这一概念得以沿用，称那些以“社会主义”和“无产阶级国际主义”为名，推行侵略扩张和霸权政策者为社会帝国主义（金炳华，冯契，2001：1245）。
