定义

现代西方伦理学概念，指一个人不同于他人的特殊的个性。本真性一词源于希腊语的“authentes”，意为“权威者”或“某人亲手制作”。本真性的思想可以追溯到卢梭，与现代以来伦理学的主体性转折有关，后来多为存在主义的哲学家所用，如克尔恺郭尔、尼采、海德格尔、萨特、梅洛·庞蒂等。对一个人来说是本真的，就意味着是这个人自己独特的、真实的个性。由于对自我的理解有分歧，所以伦理学家对本真性的理解也充满分歧。但从形式上来说，只有在个人获得了现代意义上的自决的自由后才可能出现本真性的问题。在前现代，自我的身份定位往往是通过与宇宙的目的论秩序相关的社会等级分殊来明确的，当诸如此类的宇宙目的论的视阈被现代人打破以后，自我的身份认同成了问题，本真性就是自我寻求身份认同的道德话语。本真性文化业已成为现代人生活方式的主流话语，其特征是标榜个性的解放。存在主义哲学家多运用本真性的概念来反对现代生活的平庸化、低俗化，强调生活的英雄维度和深度。自海德格尔将时间引入存在论以来，本真性也被看作此在之人在时间中展开的存在状态，与之相对的是非本真的或曰沉沦的状态。在艺术领域，“本真性”也指艺术品“原作”的独特性。本雅明把“本真性”定义为“在艺术作品碰巧出现的地方的独一无二的存在”（金炳华等，2001：69）。
