Yun Ran (Coloring Technique)

中国画和敦煌壁画的敷色技法之一，包括高染与底染，即将双颊处涂于略红于肤色的大红色，不露笔痕与色阶，并以此法沿轮廓线晕染（凹染或低染），是颜面红润、又有凹凸的效果。

Yun Ran: a coloring technique in traditional Chinese painting, can be divided into gaoran (coloring of the protruding parts) and diran (coloring of the lower parts). Gaoran refers to application of a red color brighter than the skin to the cheeks of a figure without changes in gradation strokes. After that, along the contour, red is applied in different shades to the skin, which is known as diran or aoran (coloring of the concave). In this way, the figure has healthy-looking skin and the protruding parts of the face are highlighted.
