定义

必择其一指必须从相互排斥的两种或两种以上的可能性中选择一种。在传统的形式逻辑中，排中律起作用的两个互相矛盾的命题，选言命题中互相排斥的选言支，都属于互相排斥的两种或两种以上的可能性。按照二值(真和假两个值)逻辑的要求，两个互相矛盾的命题(表示两种互相矛盾的可能性)和具有两支或两支以上的选言命题(自然是真的选言命题)，总有一个命题或支命题是真的。因此，必须在这些表示不同可能性的命题中，肯定其中的一种可能性，即肯定其中一个命题为真（彭漪涟，2010：280)。
