定义

审美能力是指人以审美方式把握世界的特殊能力。它包括审美的知觉力、感受力、记忆力、选择力、判断力、理解力、想象力和创造力、表现力、意志力等等。它是人的智能结构的重要组成部分。古希腊柏拉图认为这种能力是少数“天才”所独具的能观照“理念”美的本领。英国哈奇生认为它是“天生的、先于一切习俗、教育或典范”的“内在感官”对事物的感觉力，可以说哈齐生是内在感官“这个新思潮第一位真正懂行的代言人”（凯埃·吉尔伯特等，1989：310）。哈齐生指出，外在感官只能接受简单的观念，感到较微弱的快感，而内在感官却可以接受复杂的观念，获得较大的快感。他说：“许多哲学家仿佛认为只有一种感官快感，那就是伴随知觉所产生的简单观念。但叫做美、整齐、和谐的东西所产生的复杂观念却带有远较强大的快感”（北京大学哲学系美学教研室，1980：99）；法国狄德罗认为它是：“由于反复的经验而获得的敏捷性”（王昌逵，2009：136）。审美能力是人所独有的特殊能力。它以健全的神经系统、脑功能和感官等生理机制为自然基础，是在后天的生活实践、审美实践和学习、借鉴、训练中形成、积累和发展起来的对审美信息接受、传导、储存、处理、加工、转换、再生成的能力，受一定社会历史条件和个人的世界观、审美观的制约。由于人的实践领域的深广度或侧重点有一致性、差异性和历史发展性，人的审美能力也有共同性、差异性和发展性。审美能力是抽象思维能力与形象思维能力的统一，认识能力与创造能力的统一。它包括对事物审美特质的感觉、知觉、记忆、分析、综合、判断、理解、推理等一般能力和在高度美学修养、文化艺术素养基础上形成的创造性联想、想象和情感活动的专门能力（审美能力.via：http://epub.cnki.net/kns/brief/default_result.aspx.）。它以丰富的知识积累，审美经验和健全的审美心理结构为基础，直接制约着审美、创造美的效率。
