莫高窟塑像用泥有两种：粗泥和细泥。粗泥用于制作人物大体轮廓，细泥加上棉花或麻用来制作人物五官、衣服饰品等。

There are two types of clay used in Mogao cave sculptures: coarse clay and fine clay. Coarse clay was used for the rough outlines and bodies of sculptures, while fine clay, mixed with cotton or linen, was used for facial features and decorations.
