合并两掌，集中心思，恭敬礼拜之意。手本两边，合二为一表示专至一心，以表恭敬。

A means of showing respect and greeting, by bringing the palms closed together, in order to concentrate on one's thoughts. Bringing the hands from both sides to close the palms is a symbol of dedication to one's mind, and shows respect.
