1.纬线，织布时用梭穿织的横纱，编织物的横线 weft, the threads of a material woven across the downward sets of threads
2.地理学上假定跟赤道平行的线，以赤道为中点，向北称“北纬”，向南称“南纬”，到南北极各90° latitude, the imaginary line from east to west around the earth, parallel to the equator; the lines north of the equator being north latitudes, and the ones south of it south latitudes; both divided into 90 degrees respectively
