在甘肃省西部疏勒河流域汉代长城关塞遗址中陆续出土的竹、木简牍。因以汉敦煌郡范围内发现的时间最早、数量最多，故统称为"敦煌汉简" ，计二万五千余枚，具有很高的艺术性。 这批汉简资料对研究河西疏勒河流域的汉代屯戍情况乃至当时的政治、经济、军事、中西交通和社会历史，提供了珍贵的史料，具有重要的学术价值。

Han Bamboo Slips of Dunhuang are the bamboo and wooden slips successively excavated in the Great-Wall pass relic of the Han Dynasty. They were discovered in the Shule River basin located in the western part of Gansu Province. They are collectively called the “Han Bamboo Slips of Dunhuang” because the earliest and largest quantity relate to Dunhuang during the Han Dynasty. There are more than 25,000 displaying great artistry but also have excellent academic value. These Han Bamboo Slips of Dunhuang have provided valuable historical data for researching the garrison situation in Shule River basin of Hexi, including the temporal politics, economy, military affairs, China-West traffic and social history of the Han Dynasty.
