Rulai (Tathāgata)

定义

即如来佛，按佛经的说法，由于释迦牟尼成佛是从“如实道”而来，始有此名。它本来是释迦牟尼佛十种名号中的一个。后来大乘佛经中把一切佛陀，都称之为“如来”，如阿弥陀如来、多宝如来等等。

Interpreted as “thus-come”, the term is one of the ten epithets of the Buddha, with the implication that the Buddha’s achievement of enlightenment has come through a path of practice that other sentient beings can follow. Later, it was used to refer to all Buddhas, eg. Amitabha Rulai.
