The Story of Ye Jingneng

唐代话本。话本中叶静能于会稽山修道得成，被玄宗召入宫中，斩龙祈雨，侍玄宗神游剑南观灯，中秋游月宫。后以法术取宫中美人侍寝，玄宗欲杀之，叶静能便作法逃遁。

It is a huaben story from the Tang Dynasty, as recorded in the Dunhuang manuscripts. In the story, the Taoist priest Ye Jingneng manages to achieve great attainment and cultivate magical powers on Kuaiji Mountain and is then invited to the palace by Emperor Xuanzong. In serving the Emperor, he successfully demonstrates his feats of praying for rain and even employs his magic to obtain dragon meat for the Emperor. He also guides the Emperor’s spirit to Jiannan to enjoy the sight of lanterns and even to the Moon Palace on Mid-Autumn Day. Later, Jingneng dares to use his magical powers to have a palace beauty sleep with him. The infuriated Emperor then attempts to kill Jingneng. However, Jingneng manages to escape by virtue of his magic.
