协同，是配合、协作，互相配合、协同作用的意思。它表征着系统中相互作用的整体化、集合或合作的效应。（1）协同学的重要基本概念。主要是指由大量子系统组成的系统，在一定的条件下，子系统之间会产生相互作用与协作，然后形成有一定功能的自组织结构，那么在宏观上便会产生时间结构、空间结构或者时间——空间结构，从而达到一种新的有序态。1977年，联邦德国理论物理学家哈肯教授首先提出协同的概念。一开始，他是从研究激光现象的过程中，发现了其中呈现许多合作现象，从而提出协同的概念。之后，经过深入的研究，最后证明协同是一种十分普遍的现象。可以说几乎所有开放系统，在一定条件下都会有可能产生协同效应。这一概念提出以后，它便在自然科学和社会科学不同领域得到广泛应用（协同.via：http://epub.cnki.net/kns/brief/default_result.aspx）。（2）军事上的协同。《后汉书·吕布传》指出：“将军宜与协同策略，共存大计。”协同运用在军事上主要指基于统一的作战意图和计划，各战区、各军兵种部队之间在作战行动上的密切配合、相互支援。协同的基础应该是政治上的团结、战术上思想上的统一和指挥上的高度集中。无论是在古代、近代，还是现代协同作战都十分重要，尤其在当今条件下，作战情况复杂、多变，参军种类颇多，技术装备复杂，那么各个战区、部门、各个兵种、部队等的密切合作则十分必要，只有这样才能充分发挥整体的优势，取得胜仗。
