从具体到抽象指在完成从感性具体到抽象的基础上，由抽象作为逻辑起点，通过各种形式的逻辑中介，到达以思维具体为标志的逻辑终点的思维运动的辩证思维运动的过程。从具体到抽象，形成了抽象的规定，这是思维运动的第一条道路，但在从抽象到具体过程中，作为第一条认识道路结果的抽象的规定却成为第二条认识道路的起点，因而从抽象到具体与从具体到抽象方向是相反的。通过抽象“抽取出事物的本质和内部联系，从而达到抽象的规定，但这种抽象规定相对于客观事物的具体性来说，不可避免地具有相对的片面性和孤立性”（刘佩弦，1988：553），所以还必须从抽象回到思维的具体。任何事物都是许多本质规定的统一体，要认识这个统一体，就必须由抽象上升到具体，通过分别考察它的各个本质规定，然后才可能在整体上把握住客观事物的本质和规律。“从抽象到具体，有三个重要的环节：（1）要把握作为由抽象到具体的逻辑出发点的 ‘抽象’，在这里重要的是认识抽象的度，即什么样的抽象并抽象到什么程度才可以基本结束从具体到抽象，转而开始由抽象到具体的思维行程。一般说来，这一抽象的规定应是该领域中极度而适度的抽象。（2）要把握从抽象到具体的逻辑中介过程。从抽象到具体，逻辑起点和逻辑终点之间以大量的前后有序的逻辑中介联结起来，构成一环扣一环的逻辑整体。（3）要把握从抽象到具体的逻辑终点即理性具体。理性具体作为逻辑终点，是以一定结构有机地结合起来的具有许多规定性的丰富的总体”（李淮春，1996：70）。
