Phoenix Flute

定义

西夏乐器。竹制，横吹式，与横笛相仿，只是笛身头部有凤头装饰，故称凤笛。凤笛，仅在榆林窟10窟(西夏)中出现一支，以自鸣乐方式表现之，造型独特，有耳目一新之感。它与莫高窟第367窟(西夏)出现的龙笛似遥相呼应，用龙、凤象征吉祥之意，同时也反映了西夏时期乐器发展的状况。

A bamboo musical instrument belongs to the Western Xia Regime (1038-1227). It is similar to flute and shall also be held horizontally when being played. It got the name for the phoenix decoration at its head. The sole image of Phoenix Flute appears as a self-playing instrument in Yulin Cave No.10 (Western Xia Regime). It is attractive with a unique design. This Phoenix Flute echoes with the Dragon Flute in Cave No.367 (Western Xia Regime), which together represents an auspicious implication an reflects the musical development of Western Xia Regime at that time.
