1.止住，中止不动 stop; halt ( comb. -顿 -dùn stop, -止 -zhǐ stop)：一辆汽车～在门口 Yī liàng qìchē tíng zài ménkǒu. A car is parked in front of the gate./ 钟～了 Zhōng tíng le. The clock stopped.
2.停留 stop：我去天津，在北京～了两天 Wǒ qù Tiānjīn, zài Běijīng tíngle liǎng tiān. I stayed in Beijing for two days on my way to Tianjin.
3.妥当 settled; ready：～妥 tíngtuǒ be well-arranged; be in order ［停当 -dɑng］齐备，完毕 ready; settled
4.(-儿 -r)总数分成几份，其中一份叫一停儿 part of a total; portion：三～儿的两～儿 sān tíngr de liǎng tíngr two out of three/ 十～儿有九～儿是好的 Shí tíngr yǒu jiǔ tíngr shì hǎo de. Nine out of ten are good. |
