数（數） shù

1.数目，划分或计算出来的量 number; quantity：基～ jīshù cardinal number/ 序～ xùshù ordinal number/ 岁～ suìshù age/ 次～ cìshù number of times; frequency/ 人～太多，坐不下 Rénshù tài duō, zuòbuxià. There are not enough seats for so many people. ［数词 -cí］表示数目的词，如一、九、千、万等 numeral, such as one, nine, thousand, ten thousands, etc.
2.几，几个 several; a few：～次 shù cì several times/ ～日 shù rì a few days/ ～人 shù rén a few people
3.（迷信）劫数 (of superstition) doom; unavoidable destruction：在～难逃 zàishù-nántáo If you're doomed, you're doomed. There is no escape for sb. shǔ shuò |
