主奴关系,是指德国黑格尔用语。黑格尔的著作《精神现象学》中描述了主奴关系。“自我意识是黑格尔《精神现象学》中的重要论题,而主奴关系构成了自我意识论的核心。黑格尔认为,对等主体之间的相互承认是自我意识发展的最初目标,这是由自我意识的本性决定的。对承认概念之交互性的阐释是黑格尔对主体哲学的贡献之一。承认的历程开始于自我意识之间的生死斗争,这种斗争导致自我意识分化为主动的意识与依附的意识,即主人和奴隶。主人占有和支配奴隶,但正由于奴隶的依附性,主人只是获得片面的承认,奴隶虽然处在被支配的状态,但借助恐惧和劳动这两个环节,同样意识到了自己的自主性。主奴关系最终发展到了这样的阶段:自我意识认识到内在的思维,而不是外在的地位,决定了自身的自由。这就是以普遍的内在自由为真理的斯多亚主义。主奴关系发展的结果不是主奴关系的颠倒,而是超越主奴关系的自由意识。在自由意识中,相互承认得以实现。黑格尔关于主奴关系及其超越的思路为我们提供了一个思想的坐标,有助于我们理解那些基于主奴关系的制度与文化的局限性”(杨云飞,2011:25)。黑格尔用主奴关系来比喻主体客体之间的关系,指自我意识发展的第二阶段。在“自我意识的独立与依赖;主人与奴隶”一节的开篇,黑格尔就提出了这里的主题,即自我意识在这个阶段的目标是获得承认“自我意识是自在自为的,这由于、并且也就因为它是为另一个自在自为的自我意识而存在的;这就是说,它所以存在只是由于被对方承认”(黑格尔,1979:122)。黑格尔认为主客体关系正如主奴关系一样,主人对奴隶居于统治地位,依靠奴隶劳动而满足其需求。
