East Thousand Buddha Caves

敦煌石窟群之一，位于今甘肃省安西县桥子乡南三十五公里峡谷两岸。东千佛洞壁画艺术，完全是中国自创的变文与变相结合的产物。一窟之内多种风格并存，印度影响很浓，为东千佛洞独有。东千佛洞和榆林窟、莫高窟一样，可以看到十一世纪以后，通过西藏进行的中印佛教文化的交流。

It is one group of grottoes in Dunhuang, built on both sides of a canyon, 35 km south of the Qiaozi Township of Anxi Town, Gansu Province. The fresco art in the East One Thousand Buddha Caves is the product of combining the adapted texts and paintings from sutra for use in Chinese frescoes. Also, frescoes of different styles, deeply influenced by India, are painted in the same cave, which is unique to the East Thousand Buddha Caves. Similar to the Yulin Grottoes and the Mogao Grottoes, the East One Thousand Buddha Caves exhibit the cultural exchanges between China and India via Tibet since the 11th century.
