定义

道德权威是在“道德生活中依靠公认的道德原则的效力和威望而使人们自愿服从的道德力量，它是权力对象出于同意而服从的一种关系，这种同意是基于信任命令和服从关系的合法性”（莫飞平，2002：48）。道德权威在良好社会道德的延续和个体优良品质的形成方面都发挥着重要作用，既是人类的特定心理安全、心灵归属的需要，也是个体自我道德提升的要求。道德权威具有诱导性和说服性，它通过启迪人们的道德觉悟、培养人们的道德情感、提升人们的精神境界，使人们在内心深处形成道德行为的内在动因，强调通过“应当”的内在判断和能动努力，将外在的强制转化为内在的要求。正如一定的道德总是一定社会存在的产物一样，道德权威总是一种相对的存在。不同的历史时期，由于政治、经济和文化的不同关系以及社会不同阶层利益之间的协调方向和力度不同，具体的道德权威是有很大差异的。因此，随着社会政治、经济、文化关系的变化以及人们利益关系的调整，原有的道德权威必然发生动摇，在实际的道德发展中，表现出道德权威弱化的现象。但是，当原有的道德权威弱化的时候，也正为新的道德权威的形成创造着条件，特定历史阶段的道德权威的形成既是一个自然历史的过程，也是一个社会心理塑造的过程（鲁芳，2007：55）。
