定义

道德是反映和调整人们现实生活中的利益关系，用善恶标准评价，依靠人们内心信念、传统习惯和社会舆论维系的价值观念和行为规范的总和，是一种社会主流价值观下的非强制性约束法则。道德往往代表着社会的正面价值取向，起判断行为正当与否的作用。在汉语中，道和德本来是分开的，道和德的组合，始于春秋战国（尧新瑜，2006：22）。依据我国古代文献资料，最早使用“道德”一词的是《管子》一书。《管子·君臣下》中曾说：“君之在国都也，若心之在身体也。道德定于上，则百姓化于下矣。”这是说，如果统治阶级能以身作则，以道德来教育人民，则百姓就一定可以受到教化（罗国杰，2008：229）。后来的《礼记.曲礼》曰：“道德仁义，非礼不成”，庄子曰：“恬淡寂寞，虚无无为，此天地之平而道德之质也”。先秦儒家将其用作伦理范畴，以“道”为理想人格、品质，以“德”为立身根据和行为准则。在西方，道德moral来自于拉丁文的mores（风俗）。mores(风俗)是拉丁文mos（习俗、性格）的复数。因此，西方的道德一词兼具社会风俗和个人品性的含义，与中国的道与德的意思相近，是社会人伦秩序和个体品德修养的统一（吴瑾菁，2011：40）。
