敦煌石窟群之一，位于今甘肃省敦煌市城西南约三十五公里的断崖上，前临党河。囚其位于莫高窟（又名“千佛洞”）及古敦煌城西，故名。1961年莫高窟被列为全国重点文物保护单位。西千佛洞归属于莫高窟保护范围之内。

It is a group of the Dunhuang grottoes built on the cliffs facing the Danghe River about 35 km southwest of the City of Dunhuang in Gansu Province. They are so named because they lie west of both the Mogao Grottoes (also known as Thousand Buddha Caves) and the ancient town of Dunhuang. In 1961, the Mogao Grottoes were listed as one of the major historical and cultural sites protected at the national level, and the West Thousand Buddha Caves were included in the range of the protection of the Mogao Grottoes.
