定义

组织纪律一般是指中国共产党的组织纪律，即党的组织纪律。规范和处理党的各级组织之间、党组织与党员之间以及党员与党员之间关系的行为准则。它是党的组织和党员必须遵守的、维护党在组织上团结统一的行为准则。组织纪律是党的各项纪律得以执行的重要保障。严明党的纪律，一项重要任务就是严明党的组织纪律（全国干部培训教材编审指导委员会组织，2015：66）。党的组织纪律是指党的各级组织和全体党员在组织原则、组织关系、组织观念、组织行为等方面必须遵守的规范和要求（全国干部培训教材编审指导委员会组织，2015：225）。列宁指出，“党应当是组织的总和（并且不是什么简单的算术式的总和，而是一个整体）”（列宁，1995：471），并且还提出，“组织能使力量增加十倍”（列宁，1959：407）。民主集中制原则是党组织纪律的核心。要求：党员个人服从党的组织，少数服从多数，下级组织服从上级组织，全党各个组织和全体党员服从党的全国代表大会和中央委员会。党的各级委员会实行集体领导和个人分工负责相结合的制度，凡属重大问题都要由党的委员会民主讨论，作出决定。党禁止任何形式的个人崇拜。党的组织纪律要求党员必须有组织观念和服从的观念，任何向党闹独立性，分裂党的派别活动，把个人置于党组织之上，搞家长制、一言堂等，都是违反民主集中制原则、违反组织纪律的行为（汝信，1992：407）。
