Mogao Cave 196: Bodhisattva Sculpture

莫高窟彩塑代表作之一，唐代塑造，菩萨作游戏座，身躯丰肥硕壮，姿态安详端庄。

A statue (Tang, AD 618-907) representative of painted sculptures in the Mogao Caves. The plump Bodhisattva sits with one leg freely dangling down while the other leg is bent up against his abdomen, a Buddhist pose or posture known as youxi zuo in Chinese. A serene and dignified countenance appears on his face.
