Three-Bodies of the Buddha (Trikaya)

也叫三佛。按佛经所云，所有佛陀都具有三身，即法身、应身、报身。报身，此指以法身为因，经过修习而获得佛果之身；应身，亦称应身佛，指佛为度脱世界众生，随三界六道之不同状况和需要而现之身。

According to the sutras, all Buddhas have three bodies, namely, Dharmakaya, Sambhogakaya, and Nirmanakaya. Dharmakaya refers to the Dharma body, the unmanifested and inconceivable Buddha body. Sambhogakaya refers to the enjoyment body of limitless bliss or light. Nirmanakaya refers to the created body of the Buddha which manifests in time and space.
