尼撒的格列高利的普救主义的哲学基础，主要有两个方面：第一，恶是有限的，善是无限的，神的爱是无限的。由于恶又是非本体的，所以在救赎上必然会归于无，而回到善的一元。第二，被造的人虽然被败坏，然而那善性的存有作为人从神那里分取的东西是始终存在的，人能够分辨善恶或者知善恶，就是神圣形像存留的表征，只是人确实不能行出善来，这需要圣灵的引导和协助（汪子嵩等，2014：1314）。
