也译为“鲍依修斯”、“波爱修”，是古罗马政治家、哲学家。波伊提乌于510年任执政官，后因涉及谋叛案件入狱，并被处死（冯契，徐孝通，2000：547）。“他折衷基督教神学和拍拉图、亚里斯多德、斯多葛派以及新拍拉图主义的哲学学说，认为人真正的幸福就是与神交往。他用拉丁文翻译注释了亚里斯多德的《范畴篇》、《解释篇》等著作。他首次提出了共相是否真实存在的问题，以后这个问题就成为经院哲学实在论和唯名论的争论点”（林焕文，徐景学，1987：356）。波伊提乌还发展了关于假言推理和选言推理的理论。“波伊提乌所发展的命题逻辑是相当完整的，不过他在发展逻辑学方面的上述成就，在六至十一世纪时尚未为人们所注意”（《逻辑学辞典》编辑委员会，1983：517）。他的主要著作还有《论直言三段论》、《论假言三段论》、《直言三段论导论》等（冯契，徐孝通，2000：547）。
