Dharma Master (Fashi)

定义

佛教称谓。指通晓佛法，善于讲解、致力传法的僧人。唐代俗讲僧中专司依经讲说铺叙演绎者亦称法师。

A Buddhist title referring to a monk who has profound knowledge of Buddhist theology (the Dharma) and is devoted to preaching the Dharma with proficiency in expounding it. It also refers to the monk specifically in charge of interpreting and expounding scriptures among the monks who conducted sutra preaching and Dharma talks for lay people in the Tang Dynasty.
