《马克思恩格斯选集》是卡尔·马克思和弗里德利希·恩格斯的主要著作集。全书共4卷。第1卷收入1843—1852年的著作；第2卷收入1853—1875年的著作；第3卷收入1875—1883年的著作；第4卷收入1884—1895年的著作以及马克思和恩格斯的书信。选集还收入列宁的《卡尔·马克思》和《弗里德利希·恩格斯》两文，冠于第1卷卷首，作为序言。这些著作阐述了马克思主义的三个组成部分——哲学、政治经济学和科学社会主义的主要内容。所选著作，均按写作或发表的时间顺序编排。为便于读者阅读，为某一著作写的序言、导言，同原著编在一起；个别文章的编排次序，根据文章内容略有调整。中文第2版1995年编辑出版。共4卷。对所收著作作了调整，译文经重新校订。第1卷是1843—1859年的著作；第2卷是1857—1871年的著作和《资本论》节选；第3卷是1871—1883年的著作；第4卷是1884—1895年的著作和马克思、恩格斯的书信。每卷末除附注释、人名索引、文学作品和神话中人物索引外，新增了名目索引。50年代初，还有两卷本的《马克思恩格斯选集》，由中央编译局根据俄文版的《马克思恩格斯两卷集》翻译。（金炳华，2003：133）
