敦煌石窟铺设洞窟和窟前建筑地面的花砖。砖一般均为约30厘米见方，厚6厘米左右。花纹以八瓣莲花为主，杂以蔓草卷云纹、桃心卷瓣莲花纹、火焰宝珠纹等。有十八种之多。包括隋、唐、五代、宋、西夏、元等几个时代。

They are tiles, generally about 30 cm square and 6 cm thick, used in Dunhuang to pave the floor of the grottoes or the floor of the structures in front of the grottoes. The decorative patterns on these tiles are mainly lotuses with eight petals, but sometimes they are mingled with as many as 18 different decorative patterns, including the pattern of tendrils creeping around the cloud, the pattern of lotuses with heart-shaped curly petals, the pattern of flames with treasure beads. The tiles were made during different ages, like the Sui, the Tang, the Five Dynasties, the Song, the Tangut Regime and the Yuan dynasties.
