定义

艺术作品所描绘的环境、景物与表现的情感融合一致所形成的艺术境界。它与“情景”相通。情指作品中表现的人物的情感、情绪、情趣、情志等；境指作品中具体描绘的客观环境、景物。两者紧密联系，相互渗透，情由境萌，境由情发，即“情境交融”、“情境相生”（朱立元，2014：674）。情境，指在一定时间内各种情况的相对的或结合的境况。包括戏剧情境、规定情境、教学情境、社会情境、学习情境等（情境.via：http://baike.baidu.com/item/%E6%83%85%E5%A2%83.）。法国狄德罗和德国黑格尔曾用这一概念来指戏剧或艺术中所展示的人物活动的环境。狄德罗首先在《关于（私生子）的谈话》一文中提出，后在《论戏剧体诗》中进一步阐发。狄德罗以“美在关系”说为理论根据，提出严肃戏剧既不侧重表现动作、情节，也不着力刻画人物性格，而以情境作为描绘的内容重点。认为情境由家庭关系、职业关系、友敌关系等诸种关系构成。情境应成为戏剧的主要对象，人物性格取决于情境，只有通过表现人物性格与情境之间的冲突才能写出人物性格的千差万别。狄德罗的这一思想成为黑格尔“冲突”说的萌芽。黑格尔则认为艺术美须在适合它的环境中实现。环境分为一般的环境（“一般世界情况”）和具体的环境（“情境”）。情境是一般世界情况的具体化，即人物活动并展开矛盾冲突于其中的具体环境。黑格尔认为情境有三种：（1）无定性的情境，即“无情境”。（2）有定性但还没有冲突的情境。（3）导致冲突的情境，这是黑格尔所说的理想的情境。在这种情境中，一方面有了外在世界的“机缘”，一方面又有了内在的矛盾和冲突，于是原来和谐的情况受到破坏，产生了真正的行为和动作。冲突成为“动作的原因”，人物的性格只有在这种由于冲突所引起的行为和动作中才能得到展示。由此，黑格尔提出戏剧冲突论，认为这种“冲突的情境特别适宜于用作剧艺的对象”（冯契，2001：1139-1140）。
