平棊即天花板，莫高窟以平面彩绘为主，彩塑仅见于第268窟，方井形状，绘有飞天、童子等形象。

The term pingqi denotes a ceiling. In the Mogao Caves, ceilings are generally decorated with colorful paintings. Mogao Cave 268 is the only ceiling decorated with painted sculptures. Its ceiling, in the shape of a square well, is carved with such images as flying apsaras and Sudhana (the Child of Wealth).
