台湾同胞简称“台胞”，指其祖籍或出生、居住、工作、生活在台湾地区的具有中国血统的人(台湾同胞.via：
https://baike.baidu.com/item/%E5%8F%B0%E6%B9%BE%E5%90%8C%E8%83%9E/4021759?fr=aladdin)。台湾同胞包括以下各方面人士：（1）居住台湾岛内的中国人。不分省籍，包括1949年随国民党政府迁居台湾的大陆各省籍的国民党军政人员。台湾岛内同胞主要由汉族和高山族组成。汉族向台湾的迁移，三国时期已经开始，至今约1900多万人。高山族是台湾岛内最早的土著居民，它是台湾九个习俗和语言不同的少数民族的统称，现有30多万人；（2）在大陆的台湾同胞，主要指台湾省籍同胞。包括各个不同时期从台湾到大陆定居的人；从台湾到国外居住、工作多年再从国外直接到大陆生活、工作的人；出生在大陆，虽从未去过台湾，但祖籍在台湾的人；（3）台湾省籍的，已离开台湾旅居国外或港、澳的人。中国共产党对居住在祖国大陆的台湾同胞的基本政策主要是：一视同仁，并在各方面优先照顾（迟福林等，1992：1036-1037）。胡锦涛指出，30年来两岸关系发展的实践告诉我们：推动两岸关系发展，实现祖国和平统一，最重要的是要遵循“和平统一、一国两制”的方针和现阶段发展两岸关系、推进祖国和平统一进程的八项主张，坚持一个中国原则决不动摇，争取和平统一的努力决不放弃，贯彻寄希望干台湾人民的方针决不改变，反对“台独”分裂活动决不妥协，牢牢把握两岸关系和平发展的主题，真诚为两岸同胞谋福祉、为台海地区谋和平，维护国家主权和领土完整，维护中华民族根本利益。30年的实践充分证明，海峡两岸中国人有能力、有智慧把两岸关系的前途掌握在自己手中，通过交流合作增进感情融合、增加共同利益，通过协商谈判积累共识、减少分歧，循序渐进解决问题（胡锦涛，2009：5）。中共中央总书记、国家主席、中央军委主席习近平强调，两岸关系和平发展是一条维护两岸和平、促进共同发展、造福两岸同胞的正确道路，也是通向和平统一的光明大道，我们应该坚定不移走和平发展道路，坚定不移坚持共同政治基础，坚定不移为两岸同胞谋福祉，坚定不移携手实现民族复兴（《人民日报海外版》，2015年3月5日：第01版）。台湾自古以来就是祖国版图不可分割的一部分，台湾同胞是我们的骨肉同胞。台湾同胞与大陆人民的团聚是大势所趋、不可逆转的。
