定义

历史规律即历史法则，指历史发展过程中多次出现的、具有表象相似性或本质共同性的历史现象及其内部和外部的本质联系（陈君慧，2009：170）。揭示历史规律，是人们透过历史表象探讨其深层次的因果联系，从而揭示历史发展中普遍性、统一性、必然性的努力的表现；是人们不满足于对历史仅作肤浅的描述，而希望历史可以资鉴现实、预示未来的想法的表现。由于对历史规律的揭示是对无法感知的历史深层结构所做之抽象性认识，所以有可能投上更多的主体性影响，因此，我们也可以说历史规律是上述人对于上述历史现象及联系的主观抽象和归纳。历史规律有四个特性：第一，重复性，人们正是在对历史现象多次重复的探索中，抓住了其内在联系，以证明它是历史规律。第二，预见性，这是历史规律的价值所在。第三，层次性，某些历史规律适用于几种社会形态或整个人类社会，某些历史规律只适用于特定的历史时期和地区，但所有的历史规律在各自的层次上，又都是必然的规律。第四，不确定性或开放性，由于人的主观限定，即使是被揭示出来的历史规律，也要经由长期历史发展的检验，以确定它是否是历史规律，以及是什么层次上的历史规律（许嘉璐等，1991：3）。
