A Mahāyāna sutra. It was translated into Chinese by the monk Xuanzang. The sutra described and conceptualized the life and rebirth of Buddha, and the repentance and protection of the state offered by Buddhism. The sutra declares that gods will protect the lands of rulers who worship and uphold the sutra, bringing peace and prosperity.
