太岁tàisuì
1.〈古代arch.〉天文学中假设的星名,与岁星(木星)相应,又称岁阴或太阴。古代用它围绕太阳公转的周期纪年,十二年是一周。{Master of the Year; name of a hypothetic star in ancient astronomy that corresponds with the planet Jupiter, used in ancient times to mark time by the number of cycles it makes around the sun, with 12 years as a cycle; also 岁阴 suìyīn or 太阴 tàiyīn}
2.传说中神名。旧时迷信,认为太岁之神在地,与天上岁星(木星)相应而行,掘土(兴建工程)要躲避太岁的方位,否则就要遭受祸害。{Master of the Year of Earth, mythological god who is the counterpart of the Master of the Year of Heaven (Jupiter). It is said that in spadework one has to stay away from the direction of the Master of the Year of Earth, or else he will be courting disaster.}
