1.赢，胜利，跟“败”相反 win, triumph,antonym of "bài"：打～仗 dǎ shèngzhàng win a battle/ 得～ déshèng win a victory
2.打败（对方） defeat：以少～多 yǐshǎo-shèngduō with the few to defeat the many; defeat the enemy with an inferior force
3.超过 surpass：今～于昔 jīnshèngyúxī The present is superior to the past. or The present is better than the past./ 一个～似一个 yī ge shèngsì yī ge One is superior to the other.
