1.用丝、金属、棉或麻等制成的细长的东西 thread or string, (a length of) very fine cord made of silk, metal, cotton or kemp：棉～ miánxiàn cotton thread/ 电～ diànxiàn electric wire/ 毛～ máoxiàn knitting wool fig. 细小的 very little：一～希望 yīxiàn xīwàng a ray (or gleam) of hope ［线索 -suǒ］ fig. 事物发展的脉络或据以解决问题的头绪 a line of development of sth., or sth. that helps to find an answer to a question or a solution to the problem：那件事情有了～～ Nà jiàn shìqing yǒule xiànsuǒ.
