1.文言助词，表示疑问 (in classical Chinese) aux. expressing doubt：1.同白话的“吗” Same as "mɑ" in the vernacular：天雨～ Tiān yǔ hū? Is it raining? 2.同白话的“呢”，表选择答复的疑问 Same as "ne" in the vernacular, expressing an alternative question：然～ Rán hū? Is that correct?/ 否～ Fǒu hū? Is that not correct? or Yes or no? 3.同白话的“吧”，表推测和疑问 Same as "bɑ" in the vernacular, expressing question and doubt：日食饮得无衰～ Rì shí yǐn de wú shuāi hū? Do you still have a good appetite?
2.文言叹词，同白话的“啊” (in classical Chinese) interj. ection same as "ɑ" in the vernacular：天～ Tiān hū? My God! or Good Heavens!
3.于（放在动词或形容词后） (suffix of an adjective or verb) indicating comparison：异～寻常 yìhū-xúncháng be out of the ordinary/ 合～情理 héhū qínglǐ stand to reason; be reasonable/ 不在～好看，在～实用 bù zàihū hǎo kàn, zàihū shíyòng. Application is more important than appearance. |
