1.旧时兄弟姊妹排行(háng)有时用孟、仲、叔、季做次序，孟是老大 the eldest among brothers and sisters (used in showing the seniority in early times, the others being mèng, zhòng, shū, jì)：～兄 mèngxiōng the eldest brother/ ～孙 mèngsūn the eldest grandson
2.指夏历一季中月份在开头的 the first month of a lunar season：～春（春季第一月） mèngchūn the first month of spring/ ～冬（冬季第一月） mèngdōng the first month of winter［孟浪 -làng］鲁莽，考虑不周到 rash; impetuous：此事不可～～ Cǐ shì bù-kě mènglàng. This is not to be done rashly. |
