1.欲望，想得到某种东西或想达到某种目的的要求 desire, a yearning to get sth. or achieve some goal：食～ shíyù appetite/ 求知～ qiúzhīyù desire for knowledge
2.想要，希望 want; wish：～盖弥彰（想要掩饰反而弄得更显明了） yùgài-mízhāng the more concealed, the more conspicuous (the more one tries to hide, the more one is exposed)
3.需要 need：胆～大而心～细 Dǎn yù dà ér xīn yù xì. need to be bold but careful
4.将要，在动词前，表示动作就要开始 (before a verb) be about to; be just going to：摇摇～坠 yáoyáo-yùzhuì tottering; on the verge of collapse/ 山雨～来风满楼 Shānyǔ yù lái fēng mǎng lóu. The wind sweeping through the tower heralds a rising storm in the mountains. |
