释义 | »» 舍 shè MC syaeH 1. guest-house; stay over at a guest-house. a. general term for house, a place of rest or ease, lodging. b. cottage, quarters, esp. when living apart in mourning. c. 舍人 shèrén, “chamberlain,” member of crown prince’s household staff; also, someone attached to the staff of a specific bureau, usu. indicating someone with various secretarial or drafting responsibilities. d. honorific prefix, used in terms of address to family members younger than oneself in same generation or of earlier generation; e.g. 舍弟 shèdì, our younger brother (cf. jia 家 for older persons). 2. reside, dwell. a. rest, repose. 3. retain, save, set aside, reserve for other use. 4. overnight military encampment. a. one day’s troop movement of 30 li 里. 5. (bn.) 舍利 shèlì (MC syaeH-lijH), the “fishdragon” in Han ritual processions (< Sillah, kingdom on the Irawaddy River in Burma, from which came performers who dressed as this beast and cavorted as it); also (Budd.), trsc. of Skt. śarīra, relics, human remains to be revered; (Budd.) 舍利弗 shèlìfú (MC syae-lijH-pjut), trsc. of Skt. Śāriputra, name of one of the chief disciples of Gautama Buddha, often addressed in sutras. shě MC syaeX 1. ⦿ 捨 shě 1, give up, release; set aside, relinquish; leave behind, part with; 2, give alms.
